At one point, Swagger seem set to be one of WWE's most prominent stars, but the momentum died down, the steam cooled off, and his chances dwindled. The days of Swagger being a 2-time World Champion with his ECW and World Heavyweight Championship wins are far behind us, since, he's mainly been used in various tag-teams, on the mid-card and as an enhancement talent. Thing's could be worse for Swagger, he's often used on Raw and on pay-per-view, he's an upper mid-carder, he's in a better position than most talent who aren't top-tier on the roster. This doesn't change the fact that Swagger's spot seems cemented, it doesn't appear as though he'll rise or fall much higher from where he is now in the immediate future. He puts over newer talent, regains wins over those lower on the roster, while his reputation stays relatively solid. Perhaps that's just what Swagger is meant to be - a dependable, reliable no thrills mid-carder, as it's likely that's what he'll remain as for the majority of his WWE tenure.
