10 Days That Almost Ended WWE’s Reign

7. The Signature Pharmacy Busts

Following on the heels of the Chris Benoit tragedy, a new case was broken wide open when a pharmacy in Orlando, Florida was shut down by the DEA for providing prescriptions without doctor authorizations. Both Benoit and the late Eddie Guerrero were customers of Signature Pharmacy, receiving steroids through the online pharmacy, which many people speculated contributed to Guerrero's health and Benoit's psychological well being prior to their deaths. During the investigation, several top WWE stars were named as customers of Signature, including: Edge, Booker T, Randy Orton, John Morrison, Ken Kennedy and Umaga. All together 10 of the company's stars were suspended due to the case, which couldn't have possibly come at a worse time for WWE. This was another staggering blow in a string of incredibly difficult months for WWE, and coupled with the struggling business they were doing at the time had the company on the ropes. Wrestling once again had a negative stigma attached to it and it would be a difficult hole for Vince and company to climb out of.
