Technically, Judy Martin and Leilani Kai held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship from 1985 until 1988 – a reign that has been often forgotten due to the lack of prominence women’s wrestling had in the company.

Martin and Kai toured the world as champions before coming back to WWE TV under the tutelage of Jimmy Hart. They died their hair blonde and updated their image, sporting glitzy, golden capes to the ring.

They competed at the first Survivor Series and Royal Rumble, losing to the Jumping Bomb Angels on both occasions. The Glamour Girls would regain the titles during a tour of Japan in June 1988 in controversial fashion: Moolah told the Japanese promoters that the girls were to win back the belts despite WWE officials never deciding that.

When the Glamour Girls returned to the U.S., they were buried and dismissed from WWE, and the championship discontinued.
