10 Deluded Wrestling Shoot Interview Revelations That Will Melt Your Brain
6. Kevin Nash And His "Vanilla Midgets" Patter: Then. Now. Forever.
"When Benoit and Guerrero hugged at the end of WrestleMania XX, that was the end of the business," Kevin Nash told Grantland in 2012. Less a shoot, more a very well-written profile, Nash nonetheless unspooled so much drivel from his mouth that he might as well have been sat behind the RF Video curtain.
Nash elaborated: "Are you going to watch a porno movie with a guy with a three inch d*ck?"
The end of the business lasted just over 365 days; WrestleMania 21, headlined by Batista and John Cena's dual rise to the pinnacle of pro wrestling, set a pay-per-view buy-rate record. WrestleMania XX itself meanwhile, admittedly buoyed by the landmark hype and a slew of megastar cameos, drew in excess of a million buys. The number dwarfed that of WrestleMania XI, the site of Diesel's only WWF Heavyweight Title bout on the Grandest Stage - 'Grandest Stage' in this instance a reference to the, erm, Hartford Civic Center. Diesel was a total dud in 1995, an objective fact lost on him under the defensive pretext of "Wrestling was more popular when the giants roamed the land, I am a giant, therefore I am more popular than these vanilla midgets."
Nash was a major deal in WCW, nobody is disputing that - but to also write off CM Punk and Daniel Bryan for not being tall was, in the case of the latter especially, some ironically short-sighted stuff.
