"This will be my last wrestling interview," said Vince Russo back in 2015, which instantly classified this Kayfabe Commentaries shoot as a steaming pile of sh*t; three years later, and Russo continues to base his entire life around an industry that wants nothing to do with him.

"I do believe in honesty," he continued. Again: a steaming pile of sh*t.

Russo fashioned himself throughout the shoot as some last vanguard of the old school, citing Chief Jay Strongbow as the psychological template to follow, and with good reason, in truth. Who could forget all those MSG classics in which Strongbow, Handsome Jimmy Valiant, Superstar Billy Graham and Spiros Arion would circle around the ring in seminal Reverse Battle Royals, refusing to enter the ring to win the match, instead engaging in some light coordinated brawling?

Russo - he wasn't afraid to throw names in the air, this was his last wrestling interview, he didn't care about burning bridges - specifically buried the Young Bucks for rehearsing matches move for move, and for "knowing everything".

"I can't remember their names," he said of Matt and Nick Jackson. "I don't think anybody knows what their names are."

That statement can just be left there.

"Four star matches don't draw money. They never have, they never will."

That's funny; without Ted Turner's money and a major network TV presence, those anonymous spot monkeys did what Vince Russo failed to do as WCW booker and pulled in a gate of 10,000+ at ALL IN. They did so in part by perfecting the blood-pumping thrill of a non-stipulated pro wrestling match, and staking their critically-acclaimed wrestling ethos on a commercial windfall.

As for Russo? He wasn't invited.
