10 Devastating Injuries That Made Wrestlers WORSE
7. Terry Gordy
Brought in as a request from/favour to his former Freebird Michael Hayes, say what you will about the aptly-named PS, but he was a loyal man. He owed his livelihood to his friends and always paid that back. He even penned a heartfelt tribute to Terry Gordy in death. 'Freebird Road' - an incredibly 'Murican song, both good and hysterical - was a nicer thing to do than bring the Executioner to the WWF in 1996.
'Bam Bam' was a great, awe-inspiring worker charismatic enough to get over big in the States and accomplished enough to get over big in Japan. Both rock star and master craftsman - Gordy worked the legendary Von Erichs feud and helped build the immense prestige of the All Japan Triple Crown - the trajectory of his career changed irreversibly after suffering brain damage in 1993.
He emerged from the coma a changed, much less different man.
An indictment of the WWF's medical screening process, Gordy looked lost behind his own eyes, never quite sure as to what was happening in front of them. It's a very unsettling experience, watching that run back. He could still do a job in there, just barely, but it was a negligent decision with hearts - if not minds - in the right place.
