37 years old.

That's how old Adam 'Edge' Copeland was when he was forced to retire and give up his World Heavyweight Championship.

In a great match against Alberto Del Rio at Wrestlemania 27, Edge avenged his loss against Chris Jericho at the previous Wrestlemania by winning back the big gold belt. It looked as if we were about to be treated to another one of Edge's stellar world title runs, and this time there was a plethora of new stars for him to face in never-before-seen matches. Things were looking up for the 11-time world champion...

Which is why his announcement days later on RAW was all the more shocking.

In what is arguably the most emotionally gripping retirement speech of all time, Edge walked out in front of 16,000 people and announced that he was hanging up his boots.

While it's always sad to see a wrestler give up a title, this is unique as it isn't only the most compelling title relinquishing of all time. It's also the most emotionally harrowing retirement of all time.
