10 Most Devastating WWE Neck Injuries

3. Edge

While Angle€™s neck woes saw him switch to a reduced schedule in TNA, Edge€™s cost him his entire career. The Rated-R Superstar first ran into problems back in February of 2003. He recalls losing all strength in his left arm during a routine gym session, which he initially put down to a pinched nerve. However after seeking professional advice he was told that he had two herniated disks putting pressure on his spinal cord and that he should not get back in the ring. This resulted in a brutal procedure involving four screws in his throat and a 13-month absence from competition€”meaning he missed out on back-to-back WrestleManias. But eight years later he wasn€™t so lucky. Just a week after retaining the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXVII, he made the shocking announcement that he would have to retire from pro wrestling with immediate effect. Edge had been diagnosed with spinal stenosis, which brings with it a risk of paralysis and even death. Since then he has made a handful of appearances on WWE television, but never in a physical capacity. Nonetheless, despite having his career cruelly cut short he€™ll still go down in history as an 11-time world champion, a 14-time tag team champion, a Hall of Fame inductee and most importantly€”one of the most entertaining stars in recent WWE history.
