8. Shawn Michaels Desecrates The Canadian Flag

WWE really do hate national flags. This came about in the lead up to the infamous 1997 Survivor Series WWE title match between HBK and Bret Hart. Throughout this newest instalment to their long running saga, Michaels would inflict every manner of abuse on the Canadian national symbol, as a way of getting under the Hitman’s skin. Geez Vince, why are you so obsessed with wanting a war with Canada?

Anyhow, Shawn’s list of offences included using it as a handkerchief, rubbed his crotch with it and a host of other things. In the end, it culminated in that fateful night in Montreal, which really made everything else utterly irrelevant. Nonetheless, Canadians have not forgotten Shawn's desecration of their flag. It was a truly underhanded tactic, and he's still booed in the country to this day.
