10 Dirtiest Tricks WWE Heels Pulled To Inspire Hate
7. Triple H And Stone Cold Destroy Lita
In stark contrast to today, male on female violence was very common for WWE in the past. While many of those segments or bumps served to create an extra oomph around the feuds, many others made for rather uncomfortable viewing. Case in point: the 9 April 2001 episode of Raw. This was of course the time when Stone Cold and Triple H had formed the rather odd Two Man Power Trip faction, following Austin’s sensational heel turn at WrestleMania X-Seven.
Here, the two along with Steph, because everything is better with Steph right, were feuding with the Hardyz. On paper it should have been really fun. And while it certainly wasn’t a bust, it did give us one of the most hard to watch segments in modern wrestling history. After Lita pinned Stephanie to win their six person tag match, Triple H entered the ring and stared down Lita.
Straight away it was giving off all kinds of wrong vibes. A woman was begging a man twice her size to let her go. Austin then emerged from the other side and the two unleashed on the former Women’s champion one of the worst beatings we had seen. She was stomped on, battered with a chair, pedigreed and finally hit with a stunner. It wasn’t the brutality itself that was even the problem.
By all means Lita is a tough as nails competitor who can take much worse than that. But it was just the overall presentation of the entire thing that looked more out of a sexploitation film than a wrestling show.
