10 Disappointing WrestleMania Matches That Should Have Been Classics

1. Triple H Vs. Randy Orton - WrestleMania XXV

Triple H and Randy Orton were supposed to clash in the main event of WrestleMania 21 in 2005. Unfortunately for Orton, he flopped as a babyface while Batista seamlessly replaced him in the role. Orton had to settle for a month long World Heavyweight Championship run and a match with The Undertaker at 'Mania. Fast forward four years and Orton and Triple H, a rivalry which WWE has erroneously tried to promote as one of the greatest of all-time, finally had the chance to have their epic WrestleMania main event. They had a great angle going into the match, with Vince RKOing Stephanie McMahon and punting Vince. The home invasion angle, with Triple H breaking and entering Orton's household, was perhaps a little much but at least they were throwing everything they could at the feud. This match was going on last and they needed to give the fans a reason to react after almost four hours of entertainment. The match played out before sometimes eerie silence. Orton and Triple H tried but they just couldn't make the fans bite. When Triple H hit the match-winning pedigree he was greeted with polite applause, not the arena-shaking pop he would have hoped for. Orton and Triple H had a hell of an act to follow in Shawn Michaels versus The Undertaker. They simply couldn't do it. Michaels/Taker is one of (if not the) greatest matches in WrestleMania history. As a consequence, Orton/Triple H is one of the most anti-climatic WrestleMania main events ever.
