10 Disappointing WrestleMania Matches That Should Have Been Classics

2. Chris Jericho Vs. CM Punk - WrestleMania XXVIII

Chris Jericho versus CM Punk was a dream feud for many fans. Pre-2012 they'd had some limited interaction but the promise of a full-blown feud was enticing. Going into their WrestleMania XXVIII match the had a deeply personal storyline (Jericho kept launching verbal attacks at Punk's family) and plenty of time to execute it (23 minutes). The results were very disappointing. John Laurinaitis ruled that Punk could lose the title on a DQ before the match, adding extra intrigue, but they just took too long to get going. As a result, the crowd wasn't buying it and stayed silent for large stretches of the match. The fans may have been a little burned out since the instant-classic Triple H versus The Undertaker Hell in a Cell match had some less than an hour before. But Jericho and Punk are pros and should have put together a more dynamic encounter. It really got going near the end and the crowd woke up but by that point it was too little too late.
