4. Finn Bálor

Ushering in the dawn of a new era on Monday Night Raw, the world-travelled Finn Bálor became WWE's first ever Universal Champion by beating Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2016. 24 hours later, the Irish charm of Bálor was replaced by sorrow as he announced a torn labrum that forced him to vacate the belt.

The most depressing part of Bálor's vacation was that there were no guarantees WWE would give him another chance on top. Finn was completely robbed of the chance to establish the Universal Title as a breath of fresh air in WWE's World Title scene and show what he could do with the belt.

Although typically chirpy on social media and during the Raw segment itself, Bálor must have been tortured inside by the arm injury. Everything he had worked for came crashing down in one moment.

He has returned to screens since, but thus far Bálor hasn't been booked anywhere close to how well he was in the lead up to SummerSlam. His injury was sheer bad luck.
