10 Disturbing WWE Storylines That Got Way Too Dark

9. Al Wilson

Debuting as part of the ill-fated Invasion angle, Torrie Wilson spent seven eventful years in WWE. Unfortunately, her 2002-3 feud with Dawn Marie remains her biggest talking point, thanks to its horrendous tone.

The rivalry kicked off when Dawn entered a relationship with Al Wilson, Torrie’s real-life father. Bringing blood relatives into wrestling storylines is often problematic, and shortly after losing to Torrie at No Mercy 2002, Dawn became engaged to Al. As if that wasn’t bad enough, WWE stepped even further over the line of taste and decency by having Dawn promise to break the relationship off in exchange for a night with Torrie - though this was later revealed as a lie.

Al and Dawn were married in January (in their underwear, of course) - and that’s when things got really hairy. One week later, Al died from a heart attack after sleeping with Dawn on their honeymoon, and the feud continued. The beef was eventually settled in a Stepmother vs. Stepdaughter match at the Royal Rumble, and lasted four agonising months in total.

Perhaps there’s a way to tastefully work an old man’s death into a wrestling storyline, but this definitely wasn’t it. Fortunately, Al Wilson is still alive and well today.
