7. Booker T Vs. Triple H

Triple H has found himself at the heart of many a subpar feud throughout his career, but none were worse than his WrestleMania XIX rivalry with Booker T. As with any other sensitive subject, WWE’s approach to race has always been incredibly ham-fisted. They’ve wisely shied away from such heavy subject matter in recent years. Triple H vs. Booker T is surely one of many reasons why.

Booker, a former WCW Champion, had just become number one contender to The Game’s title - but when Triple H stated that “people like YOU don’t get to be World Champion,” the implications were obvious. Such overtones remained a constant theme for the rest of the feud, and several weeks later, Triple H gave Booker the option of becoming his limo driver and carrying his bags into the building.

WWE attempted to sell this as Triple H making fun of Booker T’s past run-ins with the law, but they couldn’t have done a worse job of hiding the bigotry. As bad as it was, however, Booker defeating Triple H at WrestleMania would have at least given him a measure of revenge. That was apparently too much to ask. The Game handily defeated his opponent, rendering the whole feud pointless, and eventually sent Booker packing to the Intercontinental Title division.
