10 Dreadful Wrestling Tropes That NEED To Die!

7. I Have Hit You With This Weapon... Now We Must Have A Match With This Weapon!

You didn't need this list to tell you that the wonderful world of professional wrestling isn't half a silly one at the best of times.

There's perhaps no better example of said eternal silliness than the way many a vicious stipulation encounter has found itself being booked on an incoming PPV or PLE.

Admittedly, this particular trope hasn't been quite as prevalent in the business recently as it was a couple of years back. But that's not to say that it's disappeared entirely. Just look at this year's Double or Nothing PPV.

Right before a surprising ladder match between himself and the despicable Christian Cage was made official for the May 28 show, you'll never guess what big bad Wardlow was randomly battered with on Dynamite.

It was painfully obvious where all this was going before the then-TNT Champion opted to challenge the 'Patriarch of AEW' to the stipped up PPV war.

Again, this predictable one does at least appear to be slowly dying out anyway, with WWE in particular not choosing to force their stars to suddenly batter each other with kendo sticks before booking a stick-on-a-pole disaster anywhere near as often.

But the fact weapons-based contests are still occasionally being set up in this not exactly creative way in 2023 is unquestionably disappointing.
