10 Dream Opponents For CM Punk In WWE

3. John Cena

Obviously, this depends on John Cena's schedule.

The main man might not be coaxed back by another match vs. Punk anyway. Cena may look at the scenario and think, 'Been there, done that'. Also, and this is rather important, JC isn't a patch on the in-ringer he was when these guys last battled in epic bouts over a decade ago.

He's an actor now, and only drops back into WWE occasionally. Regardless, from a fan perspective, there's something timeless about Cena vs. Punk. It's one of those classic company combos that carried pay-per-views on its back. If Triple H is looking for a retro flavour come 'Mania, then this would be the ticket.

Yes, it should make everybody feel sick that 2011-2012 was just called "retro", but let's move on. Punk vs. Cena may well work if it comes after a few CM vs. full time star matches. They'd take priority over this MITB 2011 throwback.
