While Adam Cole and Chris Jericho would make for an undoubtedly great tag-team, both men combining rock-star charisma with great workrate, we have to admit we booked this team mostly for the potential of the storyline leading up to its collapse.
Adam Cole has openly spoken of how Chris Jericho inspired his work as a performer so it makes sense that the current Inner Circle leader would take Cole under his wing. (Ostensibly to mentor him, secretly to leech off his popularity). However, Jericho would inevitably take umbrage over Cole's level of fan adulation- Jericho did seem legitmately annoyed when Adam Cole was voted PWI's "Wrestler of the Year" ahead of him in 2019 - and turn on his protege, setting up a feud that would light up any promotion.
The master being threatened by the man he inspired would also be a nice call back to Jericho's feud with Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania XIX, where Jericho was the young gun looking to upstage the veteran he had modelled himself after. Feuding with Adam Cole would be a poetic way for Jericho's career to come full circle, and if the Jericho-Michaels match is any indication, Cole-Jericho would be a guaranteed match of the year contender.
