10 Dream Wrestling Matches That Only Happened On TV

2. Randy Savage vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin (WCW Saturday Night; May 27, 1995)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNM4fqSp2BY Stone Cold Steve Austin's rise to super stardom in pro wrestling is well-documented. He had a solid career going for him in WCW before being unceremoniously fired by Eric Bischoff. After spending some time in ECW, Austin made his way to WWE and as they say, the rest was history. That said, many will remember Austin for his rebellious attitude and tendency to drink a lot of beer, but he had a slew of matches of matches in WCW as "Stunning" Steve Austin that usually go unnoticed. One of those many matches was contested against, believe it or not, Randy Savage. Savage was in his prime in the late 1980s and early '90s while Austin found his stride in the late '90s, so how did these two cross paths, you ask? It was on an episode of WCW Saturday Night, long before anyone ever knew of Austin's potential to be a major star in the business. Savage was wrestling regularly in WCW around this time, though most of his matches didn't have the same luster or excitement about them that they did in WWE. Nevertheless, he was brought in to mix it up with the newer crop of talent, and Austin just so happened to be among them. Austin was yearning to climb higher on the food chain in WCW, but the only way he was going to accomplish that was by targeting the best of the best in The Macho Man. Unfortunately for Austin, he was quickly disposed of by Savage. He was let go by the company shortly thereafter in what would turn out to be a blessing in disguise for both Austin and the entire industry as a whole.
