10 Dream Wrestling Matches That Only Happened On TV

3. The Rock vs. Bret Hart (Monday Night Raw; March 31, 1997)

It isn't often that you get to see two of the biggest stars in the history of the business square off, much less on an episode of Raw with very little if any prior hype. To WWE's credit, though, they didn't know what they had with these two stars at time. Still in his Rocky Maivia phase, The Rock was an up-and-coming star at midcard status. Bret Hart, on the other hand, was a disgruntled vet fresh off his victory against Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13. They were in the midst of major character overhauls at the time and their match on the March 31, 1997 edition of Raw was only the start of something new for both guys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gdwwnat5Mw This wasn't any ordinary match, however; it was over the Intercontinental Championship. Hart was undoubtedly Rock's biggest challenge to date, but he was looking to prove himself against the former multi-time WWE champion. Rock's strong showing solidified him as a future star in WWE, even if his victory over Hart came via disqualification. It wasn't long after that Rock was leading The Nation of Domination and Hart was WCW bound after the events that took place at 1997's Survivor Series, never to cross paths with The Great One again.
