10 Dream Wrestling Matches That Only Happened On TV

6. John Cena vs. Rey Mysterio (Monday Night Raw; July 25, 2011)

Two of the biggest babyface stars in WWE in the last decade, it's crazy to think that John Cena and Rey Mysterio have seldom crossed paths. They respective careers started in similar fashion when they both debuted on the SmackDown brand in 2002, but they squared off only once on the November 6, 2013 edition of SmackDown before going their separate ways. It wasn't for another eight years that the two finally came face-to-face once again, this time in a WWE Championship match. Eight days removed from CM Punk's WWE Championship victory at Money in the Bank and subsequent departure from the company, a tournament was held to determine a new champion. Mysterio defeated The Miz in the finals to capture his first WWE title, but his night wasn't over yet. It was announced shortly thereafter that he'd have to defend the strap later in the night against the man who lost the belt to Punk in the first place, John Cena. This was seen as a match that had the potential be in the main event of SummerSlam, but obviously WWE was anxious in rushing the Punk-Cena storyline and wanted to get the belt back on the leader of the Cenation immediately. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCeC5BcrJQo Even though the ending result was never in doubt, Cena and Mysterio still had an epic encounter that surely lived up to expectations. The back-and-forth action kept fans on the edge of their seats and there was never a single dull moment. As Mysterio set Cena up for his 619 finishing maneuver, Cena countered with an Attitude Adjustment to score the pinfall victory and his ninth world title. It's widely considered one of the greatest matches in Raw history and it's not difficult to see why. Mysterio would take time off due to injury a few short weeks later and he hasn't had a match of this caliber since.
