10 Dream WWE Matches Between Stars From Different Eras
5. The Undertaker (1999) vs. Sting (1997)
If rumours are to be believed, we're possibly in line to experience a version of this dream match, although much too late in either man's careers for it to be as effective as it once could have been. In 1999 The Undertaker was in his dark period, leading the Ministry in an attempt to take over WWE. He committed such dastardly deeds as human "sacrifices", kidnapping Stephanie McMahon and hanging the Big Bossman. Several different wrestlers, including Steve Austin would serve as foils for the Ministry, but it ultimately fizzled out with no one really stepping up to vanquish the beast. Just a few years earlier, Sting was one of the most popular performers in the business despite not actually wrestling any matches. Brooding in the rafters, pointing his baseball bat at his enemies and occasionally attacking them was enough to drive fans into a frenzy. He was booked perfectly and the anticipation for Sting was at a fever pitch. He was the last remaining hope of conquering the nWo (which WCW dropped the ball on, but that's been covered to death). What if Sting had jumped to WWE in 1999? Appearing in the rafters during a Ministry segment, creating weeks of speculation on whether he was with or against the Undertaker, before revealing his attention to bring the Ministry to its knees. The angle would have been filled with supernatural-esque elements and imagery, crows, crucifiixes, lightning and darkness. And it would have been awesome.
