10 Dumb Stipulation Matches WWE Should Never Book Again
8. Chairs Match
Chairs matches are the bastard child of every TLC pay-per-view. Include solely out of obligation to fulfil the show's title, these matches always feel like an also-ran next to the other hardcore matches on the card.
There's nothing inherently wrong with a steel chair. On its own, it's still a visceral threat inside the wrestling ring. But everything that can be done with steel chairs has been done. Now, it's nearly impossible to build an effective match around the stipulation that they'll be involved.
WWE seems to have wisened to this fact, and they haven't booked a chairs match on a TLC since Randy Orton took on Rey Mysterio Jr. with a glut of folding chairs thrown in for good measure. The match was cold, and Mysterio won with a hurricanrana, of all things. Even Edge and Christian, masters of the con-chair-to, were almost never booked into this ho-hum match type.
