10 DUMB WWE Heel Turns (We Didn't Want To Admit Were GENIUS!)

Why would WWE change something that didn't need to be changed?! That was the counter-argument to CM Punk's heel turn on The Rock at Raw 1000 in the summer of 2012. The previous year's sunniest months had been called the 'Summer Of Punk', and they helped turn CM into the hottest rebel baby going.

Now, here was the 'Voice Of The Voiceless' suddenly lashing out at The Rock without being provoked. Oh, but anyone who paid full attention to everything Punk stood for would understand that he was provoked - he was provoked by the very promotion paying his wages, and they had to pay for it.

Punk had grown frustrated by getting pushed aside for guys like John Cena for years, and now a Hollywood part-timer like Rocky was coming to steal some more of his thunder? Uh uh, that wouldn't do. Ticked off, Punk traded babyface cheers for boos. Admittedly, a few folks kept rooting for him, but the acclaim wasn't as widespread heading into 2013.

The splash of realism to Punk's decision ruled whether his supporters wanted the turn or not.
