10 DUMB WWE Name Changes (That We Didn't Want To Admit Were GENIUS)

6. Big E. Langston > Big E

Time for another one that's kinda funny looking back.

WWE changed Big E. Langston's name somewhere between Royal Rumble-Elimination Chamber 2014. He had the Langston surname in the Rumble, but was called Big E by the time he wrestled Jack Swagger for the Intercontinental Title at Chamber. So, what's funny about it?

People were a wee bit p*ssed to see the Langston name vanish, that's what. Yep. A decade ago, the name Langston was apparently very important to fans. This sweeping outrage wouldn't last too much longer though. Big E worked better for the future New Day man, and there'd be similar anger if WWE brought the Langston part back today.

Perhaps this can be explained away as folks just not really liking change, but it's strange that there was so much concern with the lack of Langston on the end of the man's ring name. Injuries aside, things worked out very well for the future WWE Champ.
