10 Dumbest Royal Rumble Participants In WWE History
8. Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio has the heart of a lion, and he produced a stunning performance back in 2006. Entering at number 2, Rey lasted a record 1 hour and 2 minutes en route to winning the match, and eventually defeated Kurt Angle for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. Not one of the all-time best Rumble matches, but a tremendous story, especially as Rey had dedicated his epic performance to the late Eddie Guerrero.
Such performances weren’t the norm for Rey, however, and his other Rumble appearances weren't quite so prestigious. 2005 saw him prevent two separate eliminations, and in 2009, Mysterio made the horrendous decision of scaling the top rope while attacking Mike Knox - a man big enough to use Rey as a toothpick.
Mysterio got off lightly on those occasions, but in 2011, his daftness finally got the better of him. Mysterio bizarrely set his sights on Wade Barrett, and prevented the Englishman not only from eliminating John Cena, but Kofi Kingston too. Rey completed the gargantuan task of eliminating Kane later on, but he got caught-up in the moment. Instead of turning back to the action, Mysterio’s attention was firmly focused on the Big Red Machine, allowing Barrett to gain a measure of revenge by sneaking up and bundling him over the top rope.
