Randy Savage will always be remembered as one of the most eccentric personalities in wrestling history. From recording a rap album to wrestling Dennis Rodman, the Macho Man’s lengthy career took a number of twists and turns through Weirdsville, but his performance in the 1993 Royal Rumble stands proudly as one of his career’s dumbest moments.

Macho was only in the match for a total of nine minutes, but he eliminated Repo Man en route to making the final two. Unfortunately, his opponent was the gigantic Yokozuna, who’d already bulldozed his way through six other wrestlers by that point.

Nonetheless, Savage met him head-on. He showed no fear in the face of WWE’s latest monster heel, but unfortunately, Savage chose the worst possible strategy. Instead of working to throw Yoko over the top (a huge task in itself), Savage instead tried knock him off his feet, which would’ve only amplified the difficulty of eliminating the near-600lber.

Savage eventually got Yokozuna down, scaled the ropes, and hit his trademark diving elbow. Instead of going for the elimination, however, Macho’s brain malfunctioned. He tried to pin the giant sumo, and Yoko’s kick-out was so authoritative that it hilariously sent Savage flying over the top rope and all the way to the outside.
