Though The Great Khali debuted as an unstoppable monster, he eventually transitioned into "The Punjabi Playboy" -- a dancing, comedic babyface role he holds to this day. With WWE creative team member Dave Kapoor by his side as his brother/manager/translator Ranjin Singh, Khali had settled into a stable roster position... until the 2011 debut of Jinder Mahal. Firstly, casting Kapoor as Khali's brother was a stretch -- Khali needed a translator and Ranjin spoke completely uninflected English, so odds are, they weren't brought up together. Mahal made things worse, though, when he targeted Khali straight from his debut -- and soon got the giant to turn on his own brother! Singh revealed that the ultra-wealthy Mahal was actually their brother-in-law -- he had married their sister and used his wealth to give the entire family better lives. If Khali didn't follow Mahal's orders, though, he would divorce her and the Singhs would be back in poverty. Khali did Mahal's bidding for a while, then eventually turned on him. They had a match, which Khali won. There was no talk of divorce, and the nonsensical storyline was soon dropped.
