10 Dumbest Ways WWE Wrestlers Killed Their Push

6. Triple H

In a way, Triple H did us all a service by killing his push in 1996. Had he not been demoted in the months that followed, Stone Cold Steve Austin likely wouldn't have won the King of the Ring tournament - an event many wrestling historians pinpoint as the start of the Attitude Era.

That said, it was still pretty dumb. The Game upset his superiors by partaking in the famous Madison Square Garden incident - that is, joining fellow Kliq member Shawn Michaels in breaking kayfabe to bid farewell to WCW-bound Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.

HHH must have been pretty irked a decade or so later when Undertaker was lauded as a legend for doing exactly the same thing with Ric Flair, but then the circumstances here were perhaps a little different given that they weren't then embroiled in a bitter ratings war - and no longer cared one jot about protecting the business..

On the plus side, it didn't exactly hold him back too long. In fact, Triple H ended the year holding the Intercontinental Championship, which is pretty good going considering that Baron Corbin still seems to have one foot in the dog house nearly a year after his own (comparatively minor) crimes.
