10 Dumbest Ways WWE Wrestlers Lost Matches

Even by 1993, the rules to the Royal Rumble match were both simple and entrenched.

A wrestler was eliminated when they were thrown over the top rope, and both of their feet touched the floor. Howard Finkel made sure to remind the audience of this every year, but it wasn't the talent who needed the reminder: it was 'Macho Man' Randy Savage. Or whichever road agent mapped out the bout.

Now Savage, despite being an in-ring savant, was never the brightest - at WrestleMania IX, he claimed the Undertaker should be wary of Giant González because he's from "down uuunnnderrrrr!" - but this finish really portrayed him as a moron. After landing his famous flying elbow, he, during the 1993 Royal Rumble Match, attempted to pin Yokozuna. He wasn't the guy in the midst of a monster push, and was considered collateral damage, more or less - which is fitting, since he sold Yoko's push-up strength spot as if he were in the backdraft of an explosion. It looked preposterous.

An ambitious spot in theory, in execution, it looked less like Yokozuna was strong, more like Savage was high-tailing it out of the WWF altogether. Perhaps it was Vince McMahon just sending him a message.
