A controversial start but one that WWE perhaps needs to face-up to eventually. There is so much darkness from this story that it's hard to remember the light that eventually came from it with the Wellness Policy and a far stricter method of looking after the wrestlers with concussions, etc. The story of Benoit is well documented but it should perhaps start with the run up to those tragic events before the Vengeance PPV in 2007. WWE would do well to use some of the top brass here with Vince, Stephanie and HHH all speaking out as well as other high profile stars. Obviously, the events of the murder/suicide should be looked at and the following impact it had on the WWE and roster as a whole. From there, the management of WWE will discuss how these tragic events began the massive change in the product we see today. Effectively, the PG-era began that night and, also due to the death of Eddie Guerrero, the strict wellness policy programme was brought it. This was the darkest time for the WWE as it brought up so many elements such as steroids, concussions and violence on TV, and WWE should be applauded if they approach it head-on. Perhaps they could even ask Chris Nowinski to be involved as his high profile work on concussions has been documented in media around the world. Recently, on the Network, a warning has aired before any programme in which Benoit appears and this might be the start of WWE coming to terms with those events. Realistically, this one won't happen but, if done right, it would be a very adult and serious piece about pro wrestling.
