Of all the belts in New Japan, these are the most difficult to predict. There is no telling who might show up and win the NEVER Openweight 6-man straps next. Los Ingobernables de Japon currently hold the titles, but it will take a minor miracle for SANADA, EVIL, and BUSHI to hold on until January.

This will be another match to get everyone on the card, meaning another year of slight disappointment for Will Ospreay. The Aerial Assassin has been underused by New Japan over the last couple of years, and it would be no surprise if the Brit moved on to pastures new in 2018. Ospreay will make up a strong CHAOS team here, alongside YOSHI-HASHI and Toru Yano. I predict that they will also walk in as champions.

A generic Bullet Club trio of Bad Luck Fale, Yujiro Takahashi, and Marty Scurll will challenge for the belts, but championship glory on 4 January will go to the elder statesmen of New Japan. It is somewhat surprising that Satoshi Kojima, Yuji Nagata and Hiroyoshi Tenzan haven't had a shot at these titles yet. Give them a magic moment on 4 January.

Then The Third Generation will obviously lose the belts at New Year's Dash the next night.
