New Japan and Ring of Honor's relationship seems more and more one-sided all the time. Once upon a time the working relationship seemed to benefit both parties, but it is becoming more and more clear that NJPW doesn't need ROH's US contacts any more. Expect Wrestle Kingdom 12 to be the final time the ROH World Championship is defended in New Japan.

Cody should still be holding the title going into the event. This is the 'Grandson of a Plumber's first world championship run, and it is a chance to truly establish him as a top level heel in modern pro wrestling. Arguments can be made for men like Dalton Castle or even Beretta winning the title from him, but the honour of dethroning Cody should instead go to a returning hero.

Jay White is going to be a genuine pro wrestling superstar in the near future. Having the Kiwi return to New Japan at Wrestle Kingdom to end Cody's long run as ROH World Champion could well be the launchpad White needs. It remains to be seen whether White's future lies in Japan or elsewhere, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him entered into the 2018 G1 Climax either.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
