10 Early Wrestling Predictions For 2019
4. Goldberg Will Return To WWE...
Goldberg, speaking recently to Sports Illustrated's Justin Barrasso, tempered expectations of a second WWE return.
"I don't really foresee that happening," he said - but he didn't rule anything out, either. He would return, hypothetically, were WWE to present him with a storyline "comparable" in quality to his 2016-17 run with Brock Lesnar. That seems unlikely; the magic of that storyline was driven by Goldberg's genuinely endearing drive to show his son, and the world, that he could still go. Even the sequel-obsessed WWE would have difficulty stretching out that brilliant, one last-shot-premise.
But, f*ck all that: WWE is drunk on Saudi Arabian money, and if they can use it to convince Shawn Michaels to return and wrestle Kane, where he once turned down the chance to face AJ Styles, any notion of artistic integrity disappears like Titus O'Neil underneath the ring curtain. Goldberg claimed to have finally "let go" and have "some fun" at WrestleMania 33, and a seven-figure sum for significantly less than seven moves sounds like a rip-roaring old time, irrespective of whether or not Paul Heyman books a meaningless squash against Elias, who calls him out, or whatever.
And, remember, Goldberg has a son, not a daughter, so he is free to celebrate his victory in the ring with his child once more.
