10 Early WWE Hell In A Cell 2016 Predictions
1. The Kevin Owens Era Grinds To A Halt
Kevin Owens has yet to hit his stride as WWE Universal Champion. Triple H’s interference is the chief reason he’s champion in the first place, and he only retained at Clash of Champions through Chris Jericho and Stephanie McMahon’s involvement. Mesh this with his cage match loss to Roman Reigns two weeks ago, and WWE have a weak champion on their hands.
He gained some momentum by rag-dolling Enzo Amore on Raw this week, but KO is still a far from convincing figurehead. It’s a shame, because he’s one of WWE’s best performers both on the mic and in the ring, but he’s not going to get his due until the convoluted Seth Rollins/Triple H storyline is cleared up, which won’t be happening soon.
With KO and Rollins’ rivalry continuing on Raw this week, it’s likely that they’ll rematch with the belt on the line at HIAC, probably within the cell itself. The enclosed structure greatly reduces the chances of interference, and when KO is locked in there with The Architect, he’s going to have to get by on wrestling ability alone.
Much of this depends on the severity of Rollins’ current rib injury, but the rematch makes perfect sense. Look for WWE to give Rollins his first Universal Title reign at HIAC, ending Kevin Owens’ lacklustre reign with a show-stealing performance.
