10 Elimination Chamber Participants Who Never Stood A Chance
4. Chris Masters
(John Cena Vs. Carlito Vs. Chris Masters Vs. Shawn Michaels Vs. Kane Vs. Kurt Angle - New Year's Revolution 2006)
The one where Carlito got three eliminations. This really happened; It's why we've picked Chris Masters over him here.
John Cena had been WWE Champion since WrestleMania 21 when he walked into his first Elimination Chamber Match against three former champions and two plucky upstarts. From that list, who would you expect to be put out of their misery first? If you didn't say Carlito or Masters then you must've seen this match before.
Yet, it wasn't as simple as all that. Carlito and Masters got rid of Kane, then before long they'd seen off HBK too. What was happening? Masters had looked impressive in midcard matches, but somehow he was in the final three, ahead of a trio of bonafide Attitude Era legends. Had he gone from no hope in hell to shock title contender?
Unfortunately, the answer to that question was a profound no.
Carlito double-crossed Masters and hit a low blow, making the elimination just before he was caught out with a roll-up by the Chain Gang Soldier. Order was restored and Cena kept the coveted gold... for another few minutes at least. Carlito and Masters went on to challenge for the World Tag Team Championship instead, returning to their postions as Raw's nearly men.
