(Bobby Lashley Vs. Big Show Vs. Test Vs. Rob Van Dam Vs. Hardcore Holly Vs. CM Punk - December to Dismember 2006)

The night that the Elimination Chamber went extreme!

December to Dismember was the first purely ECW pay-per-view since the brand was relaunched after One Night Stand, but it wasn't exactly what fans were dreaming of. With a mere two matches announced for the show, the main event would see ECW World Champion Big Show defend his title against a host of ECW legends, surely?

Only Rob Van Dam and Sabu had wrestled in the original Land of Extreme, but Sabu was taken out backstage and didn't even compete. Fortunately, he was replaced by Test... which is definitely a like-for-like swap! It was hard to decide who was in this just to make up the numbers most, especially when it was clear that everything other than Bobby Lashley walking out with the belt was a mere formality.

Bob Holly only had one win in 2006 to his name going into the match, which was way back in August, so he gets the nod. The fact that there was virtually no storyline reason for him to be there speaks volumes too; he was simply trusted as a longterm WWE man.

The cousin of Crash started the match along with RVD, but was eliminated quickly when Test left his pod and started to clean house. He lasted longer than a young CM Punk though, which is still a talking point to this day.

The entire pay-per-view was a disaster. Paul Heyman was given his marching orders that night (although he'll tell you he quit) and ECW never hosted a standalone PPV again.

When I'm not trying my hardest to visit all 50 U.S. states, I'm listening to music from the 80s, watching TV from the 90s, and reminiscing about growing up in the 00s. I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia so WWE premium live events are on Sunday afternoons for me; the absolute dream.
