10 Embarrassing Matches Wrestling Stars Want You To Forget

4. Triple H Vs. Brock Lesnar - WWE WrestleMania 29

Triple H probably thought it was great, to be fair, but it wasn't.

It was 23 minutes and 58 seconds of turgid action, worked in a methodical rhythm that suited only one of the men involved, and you can probably guess which, soundtracked by the now-customary wall of unforgiving silence. At one point, Lesnar, having done nothing, attempted a pin. How do you get lost during a Triple H WrestleMania match? If you can't remember what to do, just stall for time. Trips stalls for gravitas, so nobody would notice.

This wasn't embarrassing in your more overt ways - nobody fell on their a*se, nobody whiffed a strike, nobody forgot who was meant to go over because of course Triple H was going to go over in the biggest box office match of the trilogy - but it was embarrassing because this was meant to be hard nut HHH roaring back to the ring after his tearful goodbye. This was meant to be Triple H's big comeback received rapturously, as if people thought this day might never come, except nobody was exceptionally fussed if it never did, on this evidence.

After this, Brock Lesnar had to squash John Cena and break the Undertaker's WrestleMania streak just to get his heat back.
