10 Emotional Times Vince McMahon Cried His Eyes Out
2. Freddie Blassie Video Tribute
Freddie Blassie was an old school wrestler who first signed with Vincent J McMahon in the 1960's. Vince Jnr then got to know Blassie, developing a huge personal admiration in the process. This camaraderie resulted in Blassie being a WWE employee until the day he died. He was pretty much considered an honorary member of the McMahon family. When he died of old age in June 2003, Stephanie McMahon commented that he was more like a granddad than anything else. A video tribute package was produced, with Vince McMahon stating "Even though there's a vast age difference, there's a tremendous camaraderie I have with Classy Freddie Blassie and I will miss that forever." "It's the passing of the last vestige of a bygone era in our business and it will sadly be missed." Vince laments. What was clear in Vince's demeanour as he delivered that comment was an overwhelming sadness. He appeared drained, his watery eyes giving indication of his deep hurt. It wasn't the uncontrollable grief, but a resigned sadness at the ultimate finality of life.
