10 Emotional Times Vince McMahon Cried His Eyes Out
8. Austin Neck Surgery
In 2004, the WWE released an autobiography on Stone Cold Steve Austin. The book recounts the occasion when Vince McMahon learned just how serious Austin's neck injury was. "J.R went into Vince's office and Vince's eyes were red, and he was wiping the tears from his eyes [...] he really cared." That speaks measures of McMahon as a humanitarian. Forget the mass media portrayals of him not caring about wrestler well-being. The health of Steve Austin was something that moved the WWF Chairman to tears. How many other CEO's in North America would shed a tear over their staff's healthcare? Vince is that rare thing underneath his tough exterior, he's an executive who really does care about the human element. Then again, maybe the more cynical of you would say that McMahon was crying over all the money he was about to lose. Steve Austin was Vince's biggest ever draw, losing him to long term injury was an absolute kick in the teeth. Maybe Vince was actually crying over how many future PPV main events were about to be written off. Austin ended up missing action from November 1999 through to the Autumn of 2000.
