10 Epic Million Dollar Ideas WCW Refused To Use

10. Hogan Vs Goldberg On PPV

Hulk Hogan versus Bill Goldberg should have been one of the biggest pay per events of the nineties. If Vince McMahon had control over that booking, he 100% would have done it as a WrestleMania main event. It had money written all over it. But WCW President Eric Bischoff ended up doing Hogan versus Goldberg on free television. It aired live on Monday Nitro, on July 6 1998. It was a first time ever, and Hogan was defending the Championship against Goldberg's undefeated streak. So they gave it away free? Yes, it really was one of the stupidest moves WCW ever made! What would have made WCW a ton of money on pay per view, ended up being worth nothing more than the live gate and a great television rating. The decision to do it on Nitro was a sign of how paranoid WCW had became over the WWF's Raw ratings gains, with Vince's brand picking up ratings victories in the month before July 98. Bischoff had panicked and played his hottest hand. It won him the battle for ratings that night, but it meant nothing in the long run.
