10 Epic Moments The Undertaker Broke Character In WWE
9. Respect To Jeff Hardy
The Undertaker and Jeff Hardy main evented Raw in 2002 with one of the finest ladder matches in company history. Taker was a heel at the time and had promised to beat Hardy so bad that he'd be leaving on a stretcher. That's pretty much what happened, but the brave Hardy simply refused to die. Above the ring was Taker's WWE title, hanging from the rafters, waiting to be captured. Amazingly, Hardy managed to put up enough of a scrap that he ended up in a position to climb a ladder to the title. He smashed Taker with a sick steel chair shot and then began his ascent. "Climb the ladder kid, make yourself famous!" J.R barked in one of his best ever calls. But unfortunately, The Undertaker rallied and knocked Hardy off the ladder. He then climbed up and recovered his championship. What happened next was a surprise show of respect. The Undertaker was set to punish Hardy with a post match beating, but instead he returned to the ring and raised the youngster's hand. This shoot show of respect helped to take Hardy to a new level as a singles performer. In breaking away from his heel character, Taker had really put the kid over.
