10 Epic WWE Feuds That Spanned Generations

7. Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon

There's a bit of a twist with this entry. It was certainly a feud that lasted a long time, but there wasn't a lot of opportunity for them to continue feuding through the years. You know, since Bret left under terrible terms and was so upset with his treatment (and the way his brother passed away) that he wouldn't even deal with being in the same place as Vince for several years. We're not here to discuss the quality of their WrestleMania 26 match, nor are we here to talk about whose decision it was to give them so much time to work with in the match (it only went 11 minutes, but with all of the interference and slow moving, it felt like much longer). The fact remains that there was bad blood between these two men for at least a decade or so, and possibly even longer, based on the way Bret refuses to let go of grudges sometimes. He was always hurt over how Vince took the title off of him, whether you feel Vince was justified or not. Bret didn't feel like he was doing the "wrong" thing in 1997. He was going to do what Vince requested. He just felt that he had built enough "status" to where he could do it in a way he wanted. Vince couldn't take the chance of his company's top guy showing up on Nitro with the WWF Title, so he did what he had to do. They both felt they were right and justified with their actions. It's a shame that Bret's in-ring career was cut short while in WCW. There could have been big money in him coming back to the WWF after WCW folded, especially with Shawn Michaels returning to in-ring action a year later. Bret VS Vince in 2002 compared to Bret VS Vince in 2010? Worlds of difference there. Imagine Bret VS Shawn again in 2002 or 2003? That would have made for fantastic programming.
