It's actually amazing that this entry exists. After all, The New Age Outlaws beat The Rock and Mankind to become new WWF Tag-Team Champions on the 23 September 1999 episode of SmackDown. So, why could that be considered a bad thing? Like, at all?

The moment buried Billy Gunn's singles aspirations for good, that's why.

Road Dogg welcomed 'Mr. Ass' onto the stage as his "surprise" partner for the match, and The Outlaws reunited after respectively underwhelming singles runs for most of the year. This, more so than his wobbly performance opposite Rocky at SummerSlam had, brought the curtain down on Billy's main event hopes.

He'd failed to impress after becoming King Of The Ring in June, and his summer push was only mediocre at best. However, most figured the WWF would keep plugging away and give Gunn another crack. No, they just stuck him right back into the tag ranks alongside his old mate instead.
