Triple H will always be a sensitive subject for those wrestling fans who believe he used power and influence to hold others back during his prime.

It was hard to argue against those claims when Eric Bischoff appeared on Raw in 2002 and handed Triple H the new World Heavyweight Title. No tournament, no pay-per-view match, no struggle. Nope, Trips just became champ without lifting a finger. That fanned the flames of discontent amongst those who already viewed him as a cancer.

WWE wanted people to boo Triple H for being the chosen one, that much is obvious. What they wouldn't have wanted was to risk driving fans away from Raw to seek solace on SmackDown. Over there, Paul Heyman's "SmackDown Six" were wrestling up a storm weekly and there was no bias in sight.

It was a bit haphazard of WWE to risk turning fans off with clear nepotism.
