So, naturally, they turned to 'necrophilia' instead.

September-October 2002 is perhaps one of the most interesting periods in WWE history. There was a (phony) gay wedding, some fake lesbians kissing one another in Eric Bischoff's crusade to bring "Hot Lesbian Action" to Raw, and the infamous saga of Katie Vick. Any fan who lived through this nonsense should be shuddering right now.

Triple H's allegations that Kane had been a drink-driving weirdo who sexually assaulted a young woman after she had died shocked everyone, and not because they wanted to see Kane kick his rival's ass on pay-per-view. Things worsened when Triple H, dressed in a Kane mask, entered a funeral parlour and simulated sex on a mannequin representing Katie Vick's corpse in order to wind up the Big Red Machine.

Overnight, WWE received a ton of complaints from angry viewers who wanted the madness to stop. Not only did this outright fail to sell the Kane vs. Triple H feud, it also went a step too far for people who had tuned in to see some wrestling.
