By comparison to others on this list, Alex Riley's alleged crime seems, almost, innocuous.

The Miz's former protege - if reports are to be believed - was said to have made the mistake of using a move too similar to the Attitude Adjustment during a match, provoking strong criticism from John Cena (which is totally rational, of course).

After emerging as one of the standout performers from NXT's second season, and featuring prominently in his leader's 2011 feud with Cena - having a huge hand in the outcome of the WrestleMania XXVII main event - big things were expected of Riley at one point.

But, according to him at least, his prospects took a dramatic nose-dive after the incident, and he was released - without too much fanfare - a couple of years later.
