10 Fake WWE Moments You Can't Un-See

3. Running The Razor

If you're a new wrestling fan, you'd be forgiven for thinking the blood is fake; after all, all of wrestling is predetermined, so the wrestlers probably grab a ketchup sachet from under the ring and smear the condiment over their foreheads.

While that may read as preposterous, consider the opinion of yer da; at least two fathers of WhatCulture staffers, when questioning the hobbies of their idiot sons, were convinced that blood capsules were used to create the desired effect.

This is not true. Nor is what actually happens "fake," per se, but it isn't real, either.

A razor blade, often hidden underneath wrist tape, is ran across the forehead to create a shallow cut that yields a lot of blood. It's never on the cheekbone, which is telling, and if you know to look out for it - or if the director is too inept to cut away - you won't be able to un-see this practise. Once you've seen this happen, again, the spell can only be broken if the match is so good that you can't possibly be pedantic.

Now, all of this should be obvious to everybody - but hilariously, Bret Hart twice fooled Vince McMahon.
