10 Fake WWE Moments You Can't Un-See
2. Stomping The Boot
Everybody has their own biases.
If you're a fan of a certain performer, you're more likely to ignore their worst features. If you don't like a certain performer, it's easy to rip the piss out of them. It's just how things go.
This makes it difficult to criticise Bret Hart. He's one of the best and most principled human beings to have entered the foul, carny business that is pro wrestling, he thinks all of the correct people are d*ckheads, and he was absolutely incredible at his craft. For an entire generation of wrestling fans, he was the very best on a technical level before they even knew what the term "technical wrestler" meant. He showed those fans what it meant and perfected the archetype in doing so.
He also made the worked punch look more worked than a punch by relentlessly stamping on the mat with his boot with every fist thrown. It's something you just have to ignore, because it is incredibly distracting - a sort of carny foley.
Everybody does it, but Bret was uncharacteristically very blatant with it.
