10 Famous Wrestling Conspiracy Theories
1. Vince Russo: Double Agent
Most wrestling historians agree that Vince Russo's booking was, in part, to blame for the demise of WCW towards the end of the Monday Night Wars. The majority of them, however, put this down to personal ineptitude rather than deliberate sabotage.
Not all though: some fans actually believe that Russo - who worked for the WWF for much of the previous decade before jumping ship in 1999 - was sent to WCW by Vince McMahon to undermine their product with crazy, off-the-wall booking decisions and, perhaps, some general backstage mischief too.
One thing that isn't entirely clear in this theory is whether Russo actually knew he was a pawn in McMahon's game, or he just went over to Nitro and began writing shows as normal, completely unaware that he was helping to cement his former employers' ratings advantage.
Either way, this one seems too much like a movie to be true; the real conspiracy is how wrestling fans are so steadfastly determined to convince everyone that Vince Russo didn't know what he was doing, when he quite obviously - definitely - did.
